Vacation... work-related!

I’ve always been fascinated by large "DIY" stores and hardware shops where you can find solutions to (almost) every problem in the realm of human knowledge. Tools that you wouldn’t even imagine exist are there, on display, showcasing human intelligence in making life easier and, sometimes, even fun.

Lately, I’ve been going into these large stores often because the time has finally come to focus on the maintenance of doors, door frames, and wooden supports for the sinks. So, we’ve been stocking up on rolls of sandpaper, paint remover, spatulas, brushes, and everything that can breathe new life into the wood.

Our vacation week, by mutual decision, was dedicated to these tasks, as the construction site was on hold. We chose a little corner of the property where we could work in the shade, sheltered from the wind and dust, and tried to organize the job as best we could: Chiara stripped the future interior doors of the house and was finally able to use for hours the orbital sander she received as a gift last Christmas; I tried to "save" some wooden elements by injecting anti-termite treatment deep into them, and then, together, we nourished our "creatures" with wood preservative.

It was nice.
